Joseph Smith was a man who loved God and who was filled with the love of God. One of the fruits of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that those who understand the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often misnamed the “Mormon Church”) will radiate the love of God for the people around them.

One of the basic principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ is service. When we are filled with charity, we want to bless others’ lives. The most significant way we can bless others’ lives is by bringing them to the knowledge of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

When you have faith in the doctrine of Jesus Christ and are filled with the spirit of love, you will not care what critics say. Instead, you will have the desire to bless those around you by your example and faith.

“That which is wrong under one circumstance, may be, and often is, right under another. God said, ‘thou shalt not kill’; at another time He said, ‘thou shalt utterly destroy’. This is the principle on which the government of heaven is conducted—by revelation adapted to the circumstances in which the children of the kingdom are placed. Whatever God requires is right, no matter what it is, although we may not see the reason thereof till long after the events transpire. I have a testimony of a living prophet. Today, that prophet is Thomas S. Monson. He receives revelation for the whole world and is the mouthpiece of God as he leads God’s church here on the earth, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which Jesus Christ is the center and foundation.

I have heard faithful Christians say that we do not need any more revelation. God has already revealed all that is needful to know in the Bible. However, as Joseph Smith pointed out above, even the Bible shows God contradicting Himself. But we also know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This means that we are the ones changing and who need guidance through that change. I am grateful for a living prophet who reveals the will of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Their wills are one.

I am grateful to know that by following the teachings of our living prophet, I will have all the knowledge I need to navigate through this life setting my compass to true north.
